Stoner 63's in good condition work like tops -- some SEAL units still have a small lot that beleive it or not are operational.
Peter Kokalis likes the Stoner 63. He suggests that its failure to get adopted except by the SEALS has to do with the complexity of the system. Given that it can be turned into an AR, a carbine, a mag-fed LMG (mag on top like a Bren gun), a tripod MMG (calibre notwithstanding), and several others. SEALS are well trained and can make use of its features, but as a general purpose system for use by armies that might include third world conscripts, it would not be good.
