From what I understand, the rifle needs to be assembled from new as a handgun. Though, I don't think this should be a problem, as Wolverine Supplies was able to convince CZ to assemble the CZ858 with a non-restricted barrel. I can't see it being any different for CZ to make another smaller batch of CZ858 pistols with 10 inch barrels.

A VZ pistol would have to come from the factory as such and marked as a pistol. Then the mags would have to be made new, not altered mags.

Well doing the chop on a VZ is quite the job.
Would need to make a new stainless gas piston, remove and chop the barrel at the gas port, turn the barrel down and drill a new gas port, thread the barrel and then finally relocate the gas block.
Parkerize and Armacoat all parts, reassemble and then test fire.
Sounds like fun, don't it?
