Talking about making black powder, I read that buckthorn was highly prized in England for using as charcoal in black powder production. There's a wealth of buckthorn here.

I can't even make my wife's coffee right. but I have read some about it.

Willow is plentiful here, as well. Balsa, I've never seen.

balsa is native to south America common in wood working and model building but willow is most likely what you will find in the brush

Why not just get a shotgun reloading kit and reload black powder shotgun rounds?

It's cheap fun to shoot messy because it's black powder and it works...

ive said it more than once although I like brass shells from a prepper stand point and no reloading press needed

once you get beyond the prepperatory stage, you could switch to paper shells :>) :>)
