SHTF : Why AR's ?

I'll stick to my .280 Rem Browning A-Bolt as my SHTF rifle. I've got a little bugout spot lined up that has about 1000 meters of "no-man's" land in front of it and is accessible only by helicopter from behind and I can reliably hit anything the size of a dinner plate inside 700 yards with that rifle. I've got enough ammo to take down several small squads of guys with AR shorties. Then I'll have lots of AR shorties to barter with.

My SHTF rifle is likely to be primarily a meat gatherer. Smaller critters I can trap and snare.

I don't believe the L.A. riots or Hurricane Katrina were anywhere close to what most people would call a SHTF situation. A true SHTF situation would be where ALL or almost all law and order has broken down and lawlessness has taken over. Basically where it becomes a matter of survival, not a matter of somebody looting your store.

Too bad your street sucks. Go somewhere else for a couple days. that is why you have a bug-out bag
So you don't have to break out the SHTF Rifle to early and play your hand.

I believe very strongly that property is not as valuable as human life.

I therefore advise everyone to stay the hell off and away from my property...it's hardly worth losing your life over!

I choose not to rank all human life as equally valuable. A human who is looting and destroying my property is immediately reduced from the rank of "human" to "low life, bottom feeder" and is thereby "fair game".
