The modification by removal of the bridge does hurt the value a lot. But unless the rest of the gun is original, you are working on a project that would only ever be a parts gun anyway and not a highly desired collectable. A replacement bridge could be installed.
If you are thinking about this gun as a project to flip and make a few bucks down the road, then this is not the gun for you.
If you are thinking of putting a lot of time effort and cash into a project and maybe, just maybe, break even if you were to sell, then yes. It's a fun thing to do.
DP of course means that it was not used as shooter in the military. One would have to check to see if it has post service proof marks, many DP rifles do, which means the proof house didn't blow it up with their overload cartridge. Many DPs just have a zillion miles of dry firing on them.
Reproofed DPs I have fired, but I don't recommend that others do (just my disclaimer).
