this is probably the most newb thing ive ever asked but i notice a price difference, Is there any technical differences when it comes to the Black special Vs green? i remember there even use to be a blue and i recall small numbers of the "red devil" version.. anyhow.. is it just finish coloring?

Keep in mind some of the Black specials are "target" flat top models. These are often harder to find so sometimes have a small premium. Again it comes down more to supply/vs demand than anything else.

Yep, just the colours to the OP's question. Really just the difference in the paint job and I think the furniture.

Black Special
Black Special Target

Classic Green
Classic Green Target (these are new IIRC)

Red Devil

Blue Star

for the full length ones IIRC. There are a bunch of different models for the carbine and CQB that I don't even care enough to remember :p

Yes, that's the "Black Special / Classic Green TARGET" you are looking for. The Black Special target is the more common one but there is a classic green target that has just come out recently.

The Black Special Target at Wolverine has a 17" barrel and is restricted...hence my question.

I'm not certain that is a correct description on their website. The gun us referred to as a Black Special Target, but then described as restricted with a 17 inch barrel. The picture is of a 20 inch barrel non-restricted model, and the 17 inch models are usually referred to as "carbine" versions. I haven't seen a flat-top black special 17.9 inch carbine before (although there are greens in that configuration and some flat-top black 14.3 inchers around).

That would make sense.
