Yep, Bruce was a very knowledgeable guy, and interesting character. Lots of knowledge and experiences, he has a book out there about the bush pilot part of his life. He went back a long way in Canadian gun culture - very much a Canadian Gun Nut in his own right. I shared the range with him a few times where we didn't agree on things, but it was always worth it to engage in conversation with him. He is missed.

To this day S&L make great barrels. Just don't make stainless barrels. Their barrels are cut & lapped like the best match barrels. Stocks are epoxy bedded and barrels free floated. Overall they won't do anything a well bedded Remmy with cut match barrel couldn't do.

The barrel flare also needed to be free, which was the final key to accuracy on this one. I spotted that tip in an old S&L build video and duplicated it - the stock fitting check starts at 9:20 of the video.
