Every Italian Garand that I make is named after a female operatic character. And every name must begin with the letter "M". "M" for M-1.
Now I have to admit that the first rifle--Manon-- was quite something. The second Garand--Martha--was also a beautiful rifle. But I am getting ready to build the most beautiful Garand of all time. And yes, her name is Mimi.
Mimi has a Breda receiver with a beautifully aged olive green Parkerizing. She has a Breda bolt, Breda sights, and a Breda gas cylinder. We also have a Breda trigger group and a Breda operating rod. The barrel is a brand new Krieger in .30-06 and the stock will something extremely unusual and special. It will make all other Garand stocks look like cheap firewood.
I had the gas cylinder salt-nitride coated and it is extremely beautiful. I am waiting on the stock and trust me, the wait will be worth it.
This will be a very special rifle. It will be perfect in every way. It will be the ballistic equivalent of Maria Callas. Jaws will drop and grown men will be stunned into silence. The word "awesome" has been pounded into submission by hack writers. But if I could find a better word, I would use it.
