Have any of you ever reloaded cartridges for the Siamese Mauser 1903? I'm just curious if there is substitute brass that could be resized/cut to fit. As you may realize, it takes a rimmed 8x50mm cartridge - the only Mauser rifle to use a rimmed cartridge with a specially slanted magazine.

There are two Siamese Mauser ctgs, the Type 45 240 gr bt 2000 fps, and the later 8x52R Type 66 180 gr bt 2400 fps. Most arms were rechambered to the Type66 ctg and resighted. Brass can be made for the T66 from 45-70 by resizeing trimming and turning down the rim diameter.

All the mausers before the 88 used rimmed cartridges. It might be the only 98 to use a rimmed cartridge.......but not the only mauser

There was actualy another country that used 98 mausers with rimmed cartridges. 303 British, by the British in trials rifles only and by Latvia and Estonia as issue rifles. These rifles were made by CZ. The Germans also made rimmed cartridge 98s for Siam as well.
For more information look in Ludwig Olsons third edition of Mauser Bolt Rifles on pages 140 and 179. bearhunter

I'm looking at Mauser, Walther and Mannlicher Firearms by Smith and the Mauser-Norris 67-69 shows a rimmed cartridge. However, the single shot German Infantry Model 71 and the 71-84 repeating rifle use an 11mm cartridge which is shown to be rimless in the diagrams within the book. The text doesn't say whether its rimmed or not.

the 11mm mauser is rimmed, not sure if beveled is the right term, but the rim is not on the bottom as is normal.

did CZ ever make any VZ24's in 303? or were they only saleman's sample types?
