At a Christmas party I was at the other night, a few of us local hunters were reminising about the deer hunt. We all tagged out nice bucks, but then 3 of the boys told us how many dead, wasted bucks they had come across. One guy alone saw 6, all in the middle of fields or along bushline. It really looks like, and we all drew the same confusion, that there were hunters out there that did not like the size of the racks on thier kill and left them. What an awful waste. I admit that when I walked up to my buck after I shot him, I was surprised that his rack was way smaller than I thought, but, he is cut up and ready for sausage, I eat what I kill, no waste. It sickens me that we have guys in this area that would do such a thing. '
2 years ago a group of hunters from Quebec got nailed hard by the CO's for shooting way over the tag limit, I think they had something like 6 nice bucks that were shot without tags. 12 or 13 grand in fines later, they were sent home. This year we had a group from mainitoba doing the same damn thing.
This part of Sask is world renowned for huge WT bucks, alot of outfitters make their years worth of cash just on the WT hunt. If folks keep killing and wasting as they have, we might find ourselves going the way of the buffalo.
I had to get this of my mind and into words. Does anyone else have a problem like this in their province?
