Side by Side questions

Ahh, the age old debates - over/under vs. side by side, double triggers vs, single selective. All of these options have advantages or disadvantages in varying degrees depending on the task at hand and the preferences of the shooter. Those who learn on one type and continue to gain the most experience with this type will usually be most comfortable with this type. Each feature has situations that they excel for and have been refined for, that’s why the variety exists. Personally I prefer an over/under for trap where presentations are somewhat limited, the barrel selector is largely irrelevant. In my limited experience with skeet I see no preference in barrel orientation, single triggers may be easier for the digitally challenged. Sporting clays/ five stand more closely mimics actual varied hunting presentations and side by sides can easily hold their own when used by those accustomed to them. They excel in hunting situations where every presentation is different unknown. Today most wing shooters learn with a single sighting plane like an over/under once they graduate from the inexpensive rattle trap mechanical gadgets known as pumps and autoloaders and can have issues with side by side barrels and double triggers. For these shooters using a double trigger side by side can be challenging.
