Side by side.....you decide!

Seeing as how I already have a Mosin ('39 Tula), I'll take the Mauser.

My next surplus purchase will be a Mauser (but not a RC - people want way too much money for those IMO).

YOu guys choosing the FInn are nuts. It's a $300 rifle, tops. Sure, they shoot ok, but not better than the Mauser, which is a $1200 rifle, give or take, with old world fit and finish. You could sell the Mauser and have 4 of those finns or more.

That sums it up quite nicely.

You will only understand if you handled and shot a 1935 Brazilian Mauser, it will be a revelation, and the road of no return, for all the Mosin fans. :)

Umm... I'd beg to differ. I've a Swede 96 and a 1914 Danzig 98 that just don't have the character of my M-39.
But I've always found Mausers to be overrated despite their somewhat inflated values these days.
And I'd think a good M-39 isn't a 300 $ rifle...try in the neighborhood of 500 $.
I had a D & T'd M-39 with a mismatched Russian bolt go for the same coin as a similar Mauser.
Sorry Squarehead rifle fans, unless it's got Dirty birds on it ( at which point worksmanship was sliding anyhow), it's not commanding much more $ than Finnish iron.
Can argue stronger action til you are blue in the face...the Finn's are coming...
All in fun please, don't spill your schnapps's boys getting nasty; no need
