Hi lads,
I’m kinda new to break action shotguns, saw some old fashion sxs with ejector in movies and I instantly decided I need to have one!
But I have looked around the internet for a while, seems there are very limited selection available: either hard to find (like baikal or aya) or just too engraved for my wallet.
Or maybe I’m just too bad at using google? :(
So may I have some suggestions from the wise CGNers? I’m not really picky on ex/internal hammer or double/single trigger, just want the empty shells can be spit out on itself after I pop the action open :)
Thanks!

Tradex has some for 1.5k or so , these are used English guns and seem nice. I lucked into an old FEG with ejectors but it needed a lot of love to function properly and probably will need more down the line. Ejectors in cheaper guns are sometimes problematic with timing issues or just breaking and needing repair.

I have not looked to see what is there, but watch the shot gun EE, they will turn up at times, O/U are more common with ejectors.

Lots of SxS have ejectors. Lots don’t. Keep looking.

I have lots of both. Prefer hunting with extractors. Don’t like looking for the empties.

Fixing broken ejectors on a SxS is likely the most complex and expensive repair besides a complete restock. And the restock isn’t complex, it is just expensive. So do not buy a gun with broken ejectors unless you are ready to foot the bill. Mis-timed ejectors can indicate a problem.

The Merkel and Sauer used auto ejectors , They were made for the fiberwad cartridges. Tight bores Shooting 2.5 inch Kent in them is fun . then 2.75 plastic kicks more . Nver shoot 3 inch the chambers are for 2.75. But he auto ejectors work fine. Inexpensive Check out EPPS. and Tradex

Yeah I have heard about that, so Im thinking probably I should get a newly manufactured one instead of a old gun.

I'm not sure that would be my approach. SxS guns are the most expensive style of shotgun to build. Thus, if you are buying new today, you are dragging the bottom of the barrel in overall quality when you are in the $1-2K range in Canada. In the used gun market you can find some extremely well made SxS in very good condition for that price range. It depends on what you want the gun for.

Do you intend to hunt it, play clays games, shoot cowboy action, blast targets in the woods? The use really defines what is appropriate. There were/are SxS made for every style but there are big differences between them.

From what little you have said, I would scan Tradeex until you found something under $500 that looks like it fits the bill. They have a full refund policy so if there is something wrong with it, you can return for a complete refund (shipping costs excluded).

Hmm, that make sense, I think you are right, thanks for the advise. I will be mainly doing target/clay blasting with it, maybe huting but not for now.

Dickinson plantation or estate are truly gorgeous and come with ejectors. Maybe hard to find in canada but i think they are well fitted and built for the money when compared to other names for similar guns
