hey guys i got a side mount scope from eastwave optics the other week, but i have one (possible) problem with it. its not on center with the rifle. is this normal, or should i send it back? whats the vets of the cz 858 say?

here are the pictures

Looks totally normal to me..... the only side mount optics im aware of that actually hangs over the center of the gun is some PK-01's and the Venezuelan PK-A. But you can buy modern side mount adaptations like weaver/1913 rails etc. that center optics attached to them over the barrel.

It takes some getting used to, but I find all the Soviet style side optics are very comfy to look through in the end :)

I don't own a single side-mounted scope where the scope is that far to the side. It must be uncomfortable to shoot given what I would think is a set-up that leads to a poor cheek-weld.

That said, if it works it's all good.

I'll rephrase it then.. That's normal for that scope and its side mount.

This one sits over farther http://www.hical.ca/csa-side-rail-mount-quick-release-mk004s/

And allows you to use normal rings.

As long as you can zero the rifle being off centre really does not matter, there is way more extreme examples out there.

That is perfectly normal. It's designed that way to minimise the ejected cases hitting the scope, if it were further over it would be useless. All top ejectors need to have the scope mounted to one side or the other.
