The styrofoam is modeled after the Boyd’s SS evolution.
The but stock will have a telescoping extension via thumb wheel aluminum piece I built.
I’ve started at the arse end and the CF will unfortunately be applied in many small pieces. My ability to make a clean and smooth CF skin will not be adequate to a cosmetic goal, so it will be filled and primered painted over.
The action was milled out to allow a LAR 10 round magazine. I have at least one mag I think and the action has been skinned to act as the inletting into the CF and will later be epoxied in.
Planning to do aluminum pillars tied in or reinforced to CF, and an aluminum bedding block.
So, I gotta put a knurl on the thumb wheel/nut, I’ll use a buddy’s lathe. I might reuse the rear open site on the 458WM build instead of dropping $200-300 on a NECG part. The aluminum parts will be powder coated black after the kneeling is done.
The scope seems like a lot on this little .223
You can see the ugliness of the CF that the action will bed into. It won’t matter is it will be hidden in the stock but gives a good form fit to the action.
Last picture is getting the front side of the telescoping adjuster fit in place. It’s a double layer of CF in front of the aluminum base and one behind it. The CF that goes on the shell of the styrofoam will tie it in structurally.
Maybe next will be shaping the stock more for the narrower barrel profile. I also have to figure out a mounting solution for the bipod extension like I did on the Boyd’s:
