I'm looking for a side saddle, ideally not velcro, to put on mine.

Overall, the Mesa Tactical is highly recommended. However, I am a bit cautious about putting this side saddle because the screws usually get loose with the recoil (even with Loctite). I also looked at this saddle which is fixed from the top and has a rail, but that means I would need to replace the existing rail and lose the ghost ring.

The questions I have are:
  1. Is there another saddle that is just as good that fits the criteria?
  2. Is there a saddle fixed with screws which does not have the issue of becoming loose?
  3. Any other option I am not seeing because I am not aware of what's out there?
Thanks in advance!

I have 7 round Mesa T on my HP9-1.

It works well but it sticks out quite far from the receiver.

I have velcro on pads on my 590S and really prefer it over the MT.

If you're worried about the fabric holders stretching and getting loose, just do what Clint Smith recommends "Stop being a b1tch, buy a dozen of them and replace as needed.".

Because the profile is smaller?

Members will probably laugh, but I find it ugly as f**k. That's why I prefer the hard saddles.

Thinner, adds less to width and it seems to balance better but since one SG is a steel receiver and the other aluminum, I'm not sure if the better balance is all due to the side saddle.

I'm a function over form guy so I don 't care how it looks, just how well it works.

If you use actual Velcro branded hook and loop for on the rifle/shotgun, I found it sticks better than the knock off stuff, and removes without leaving any residue. Buy it by the roll and you can cut the shape you need, big or small. They work so well that I've started looking at the hard shell holders as ugly.

OK, I'm looking at the velcro ones. Esstac or S&J Hardware? I'm leaning towards the S&J because is Canadian.

We appreciate you looking at the S&J units because they are canadian.
But they' are thr best Velcro card on the market.
Just due to how we make them

Ordered the 6-shot saddle due to the length (~6.5 inches).

I had to do a bit of DYI to add the holes for the pins and cut to size. I even f**cked up the "put on part" where the velcro stuck to every-f**king-thing except the receiver.

I'm terrible at "arts and crafts", but the end result was good enough for me. 😅

I did 3 shotguns today with the S&J cards and installed their pic/q-connect attachment for the 870 wingmaster. Solid, solid, gear!

Now, how to sling at the butt? It's wonderful wood and I don't want to drill and epoxy a q-connect on the right side in the event it comes loose. Is there a commercially available butt stock cuff that a sling can attach to the right side of the butt stock?
