Just got a poly in the US

everyone hates on it but i like it a lot!

SO are the myths true?

Does the bolt suck/is it soft?

I put a usgi stock on it. Pictures tomorrow, my battery is dead!

THanks!

We seem to like our inexpensive Kommunist Zhinese rifles up here in Canada.... If (big if) you have a soft bolt from the 1990's (read: Pre AWB & Bill Klinton), replacements from 3W.762mmfirearms.com are easily ordered and dropped in for you 'Mericans! :D Problem (real or perceived) is solved! :dancingbanana:

 and welcome to the board!

In the US it's super-simple. 762mmfirearms, Fulton Armory, Springfield Armory and USGI bolts will all drop in with no fuss, no muss.

Enjoy your forged receivered M14S.

Congratulations!
Norinco & Poly M14s are an unbeatable value in the M14 world.

The side stamped Poly Tech are said to be the very best right out of the box Chinese M14s that were ever imported into the US.
That said, it is best that owners of US imports have a new bolt fitted sooner than later. You may also want to consider upgrades
especially if you plan to shoot alot. Upgrades include op rod spring & connector lock pin, rear sight assembly, muzzle device and front sight.

I have 5 heel stamped Chicom M14s... their forged Chinese receivers are dimensionally closer to USGI than all other receivers currently on the market.
USGI and SEI parts fit & function silky smooth on these fine receivers... starting in 2004 I've hired SEI to install new barrels, TRW bolts and more on all 5.

Back to the side stamped Poly,

I own a sixth Chinese M14, it's a side stamped Poly that is still in the original plastic bag and covered with cosmoline.
If I can find that 1 remaining TRW bolt I purchased years ago I think I will have SEI perform their GI bolt conversion
without replacing the 'as good as GI' chrome lined Chicom barrel and put it in a GI synthetic, add a lugged GI flash hider and bayonet.
WarBird can also fit a GI bolt without replacing the original barrel.

Just remember ignorance is what breeds hate.
