Sierra 300M F/TR ISSF match, Mission June 7-8

Not many, since your Prov. (BC) is the only province with the newest grad and steal (GST) applicable CARBON TAX that only effects visitors to BC since BC residents can claim it on their tax return.

I know when I head out for the BC Prov and DRidge match end of July I plan on NOT filling up in your lovely province, if I can.

I'm getting so tired for the gov. with it's hand (or should I say, whole arm) in my pocket.

You would think that the existing taxes on gas (approx 50% of the value you pay for it now) would be enough of an incentive not to drive unless you have to....

Plus the SPRA has a match on that same date.... and it is only 3 hrs round trip to Nokomis from ToonTown and back.

Hi Ian, I'm probably going to Nokomis for the longer distances. With our road gone, it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. About the same distance either way. I'm not sure what you guys are paying for gas but I'll bet it's not a bunch cheaper in Sask either, Carbon tax not withstanding. What's a litre in Kamloops? It's a buck 24 here. Keith, what is it in Sk'toon?

I hope they can fix the damn road before the Provincials. Any one planning on that one?

Cheers, Glen

Hiya Glen!!!

I really liked the DVD by the way!

Are you talking about the Alberta provincials or the BC match? I will definitely be shooting the BC provincials. I know nothing about the Alberta match... If you're going, I'll HAVE to show up!!!!

As for gas, it is about $1.30/ litre, so for a 1000 km trip in a vehicle that gets 20 mpg, that's 125 litres of fuel.

125 X 1.24= $155

125 X 1.30 = $162

I can see why people are getting really pyssed! A whole seven bucks more expensive to drive 1000k in BC!! That's a damned good reason to boycott a match, after all, you know how much us shooter and match organizers have to do with gas prices after all... :)

Ian, I'll be at the BC thing for sure, so will Keith as we're on the PPRA Team. Then down to Oregon for the second part. That pretty much takes care of any extended days away I'm going to be able to snatch from the contracts I've got to finish

I was talking about the APRA Prov's that are on June 26 til the 30th. I just hope they do something fairly quick with that damn road or we'll have to cancel that too. We haven't even had our season opener yet.

Glad you like the DVD. I'm not sure it had anything to do with the clinic Jay and them ran but they had 18 new shooters come out which was awesome.

I've never really let myself worry about fuel prices. Hell, I drove a Suburban until it died this year. I seem to be able to rationalize the travel expenses pretty well, it's the time budget I've always had to wrestle with.

I live in Alberta so If gas costs a bunch, I know they'll be digging like a gopher to find more of the crap to make it out of. That equates to higher wages and more hours. The downside is no time for shooting. Double edged sword there. This year is no exception. I have no more project secondary coverage as my colleague is in full preparation to retire, so he don't care where I have to get to for shooting. Damn it! That leaves me sneaking off for a Friday marathon drive, shoot 2 days and drive like a fool to get back for work Monday. So I'm pretty much hooped for anything other than the regional 2 day affairs in BC, Sask and Washington, Oregon or anywhere else I can get to in 18 hours.

Ain't life a peach? Like crushed nuts?
Cheers, Glen
