I have been loading my 6.5x47L with 37.5 grains of H4350 pushing Berger 140 grain hunting VLD. Berger sent me an excel sheet with load info stating 35-38.9 max with 99.9% load fill. I put 10 rounds through the chrono and 8 rounds were within 4 fps the other 2 were 14 and 15 fps off, one higher one lower. I will chock that up to the beam scale.

I now would like to load sierra 142grain HPBT. Sierra e mailed me with load info for my 300WSM but stated they had no data for the 6.5.

Now the question, what charge would you load the sierra, it is 2 grains heavier that the Berger.

Thanks, DinoS

Two grains heavier bullet won't make much difference, and you're not at max charge for the bullet you're using now. Drop charge to starting load from Berger and work up.

Thank's for the input. I plan on working up looking for signs of excess, I was looking to confirm I am not out of line with my train of thought that both bullets are of similar design and the min./max. charge of powder is a good place to start.
