Anyone know where or if any of these rare birds make it up past the boarder? I have a few hundred coming in with out a cannelure but no joy so far tracking any down. I have 2 1 in 7 twists and want to work up a load and see how tight I can get it to shoot at 300

Try crimping the ones without the canalure. As long as it isn't overboard tight, the jacket dimples nicely with no deformation of the bullet or jacket (beyond the crimp of course).
I use a lee factory crimp die on the Hornady 68 & 75 gr. HPBT and the Sierra 69 & 77 gr. HPBT with no issues.

Thanks Beltfed I have a lee crimp and I will use these with my non cannelured bullets lightly to work up a load my AR's like. I have varget and CFE223 well I also have H4895 so I will make a series of loads for each. Its time to pick up a chrono... Next pay cheque.

Hi Bill,
You could go with the non cannellured ones and if you have a stoppage, just inspect the round carefully before re-loading it back into the mag. If you are worried it's not safe to fire, just pull the bullet and recycle it through the press.
You can try the Hornady ELD's too. They are a well made bullet and are readily available at X-Reload
