Hello,
I am wondering if anybody has a Sierra loading manual and would care to share some numbers. I am looking for the 90gr JHP with blue dot (if even listed). I am trying to concoct a super duper fast carbine load.

Okay thanks for checking. I want to take advantage of the longer barrel length with a slower powder. Blue dot already pushes a 124gr fmj to 1350-1400fps out of a carbine. I figured with a lighter bullet I could go faster

1400 fps is based on test loads out of a 4" handgun barrel. The 9mm is only shown in the pistol section so I dont have velocities for your carbine.

A 90 grain bullet was made for .380 ACP. Using 'em in a 9mm doesn't work well. At least, they didn't out of my Inglis. Anyway, Alliant doesn't list 'em for 9mm Para. They do for 9mm Markov. Only means they didn't test 'em.

Okay so I have done a little bit of testing with the 90gr bullet. The blue dot powder is slow and that is what I want. Unfortunately it is too bulky to allow for an adequate charge. The most blue dot I can fit into a 9mm case is 8.5gr (which is what the manual calls for with a 115gr bullet). That's with the bullet loaded out as far as reasonably possible. That achieves an average velocity (5 shots) of 1677fps.

Like I said, "Blue Dot is too slow...."

There are other considerations. BD is a shotgun powder. Shotguns run at 12,000 psi. A 9mm runs at 35,000. You want a powder comfortable and reliable at that pressure range.

Try Power Pistol.
