I've used the 165 GK's in .308 with great success this past year - all three deer I shot were bang-flops this past season.
I don't know if I'd use them on moose or anything really large/thick-boned... they DO fly apart a bit. However, they're a great deer round.

"Within their caliber and for their weight our toughest varmint and hunting rifle bullets are hollow points. By "toughest" we mean that Sierra hollow point GameKing rifle bullets expand less and penetrate more than their lead and plastic tip counterparts, the Spitzers. That is the opposite of pistol bullets. It is also the opposite of what everyone except those who use them would think of our hollow point GameKing rifle bullets. Still, it is true of each Sierra hollow point from the little .224 40 grain HP through the 165 grain 30 caliber HPBT.
While our flat base hollow points are tough varmint bullets that can put down coyotes, our hollow point boat tails (except for the 55 gr. .224 bullet) are excellent medium and big game bullets capable of antelope, deer, black bear, moose, and elk. So, from what they say, it is a tough bullet. I have shot some very small groups with SGK HP bullets, but not tried on game yet. I've shot many mule deer with SGK SPBT and they worked like lightning. Dead Right There perfomance.

i shot .270 150gr Gamekings into 2 bears and a mule deer from a 270win. all animals died like they were hit by lightening. ranges from 50 to 270yrds. performance was somewhere between a vmax and a ballistic tip. EXPLOSIVE.

I've used Sierra Gamekings/SBTs in a number of calibers with great accuracy results as well as performance on game. A couple of examples,
Reading Sierra's release, I can't help but think this is a marketing reaction to the success of Berger's hunting bullets. They have TV shows using Bergers to make extremely long kills. The fact that they are a match grade BTHP goes against everything we've been taught to believe regarding hunting bullet designs. In my poinion Berger has spent the money marketing the idea of match grade hunting bullets and Sierra will smartly ride their coat tails. Because Sierra can claim the same or better performance at a much lower price. And the fact that they have always made Gameking HP's makes it an easy idea to swallow.
Heck after reading some of the results here I'm tempted to work up a 300 RUM load of my own!

Seirra was making the Game king long before Bergers, and I have used and loaded game kings in all the big game calibres for over 20 years.

The 140 in .277 is a moose masher and very accurate.

I always used Hornady bullets, because, guess...they were the only ones that the local reloading place had. Then I discovered mail order and started using Game Kings.
125gr in my SKS one 6 point buck 80yds, heart shot ran 25 yds, 1 doe 140 yds laid down dead.
150gr in my .303, whitetail doe 125yds, bang flop; spike horn muley 160yds somersaulted.
180gr in .303, 2 does at ~150yds, 1 850lb Cape Breton Bull at 100yds, 450lb black bear at 50yds, and another (350lbs) at 150yds.
150gr in .30-06, 6 point buck, 280yds bang flop; doe 260yds, bang, lay down dead; cow moose 260yds (lung shot) ran 75yds. (would have died if I had waited another few minutes) followed it with a heart shot when she stood up 50yds away. 2 steps, dead.
I have had better performance with Game Kings for big game than any other, including Nosler Ballistic Tips. Excellent penetration, Every shot from the .303 or .30-06 was a complete through and through except on the bears (and there wasn't enough to recover whole, Lots of fragments when the bullet smashed through the shoulder). More than sufficient damage, and they went where I wanted them to.
Both 125's were recovered. Both just under the skin on the far side. Both of those were perfected mushroomed to about .450", one weighed 62gr and the other 58gr.
I was thinking of moving up to the TSX, but they are a lot more expensive.
BTW, I wasn't after the moose that day with the 150gr. We were deer hunting and she just walked out at the wrong time while I still had a tag in my backpack. Going for moose I usually use 180's, min.

My only complaint with the GameKing hollowpoints is that if they're pushed too fast, they literally vaporize inside the animal. I fired a 160 grainer from a 7mm mag at a whitetail buck at about 185 metres or so, and its insides looked like I had used a shotgun. Not a big deal, since the buck just keeled over where it stood, but I think I'll push those hollowpoints a little slower next time. It took me forever to get all the shrapnel out of the meat.

I started using the 165gr BTHP in my 308win - bought them by accident. My Ruger shoots them extremely well, so I keep using them. My only concern is to not use them (or be very careful of your shot) at less than 50 yards. They can make a mess, but the animal doesn't go very far.
