Got these bullets from a friend. I know the bore of my rifle is .312 from slugging it. I've loaded but not shot yet some cartridges with 25gr of IMR4198. Any thoughts of what accuracy they should get? Excluding my skills of course.
You must mean "Speer" Hot Core bullets, not Sierra. If they are Sierra Flat base bullets they will be designated as "Pro-Hunter"
Regardless, the .311" bullets usually shoot fine in the slightly larger bores of Lee-Enfields, P14's etc.
I have a P14 that slugs just over .313", and those .311" bullets shoot great in it.
As a matter of fact, I have yet to find a bullet that shoots better in my P14 303 Epps than that Sierra 180 grain Pro-Hunter, and it is a .311" bullet.
Regards, Dave.[/Q I did mean Speer Dave, thanks. I was a bit concerned with the .311 so you answered that for me. They are for range use and not hunting so from other articles I've read 25gr of powder seems to work well.
