Sig 1911 STX vs Ruger SR1911 vs Remington 1911

Ruger hands down remington close second sig dead last I cant get passed the external extractor
Ruger becouse imo it just looks the nicest the remingtons shoot great but the bling factor isnt really there and sig should stick to the 226
 
If $ is not a consideration then Sig STX, Ruger, Remington. If it is then Ruger, Remington, Sig.

I own a Sig 1911 (not as fancy as STX) and it is very tight, accurate and well made. I also have the Ruger - excellent value, very nice gun. I don't own the Rem yet. External extractors function beautifully, IMHO. Also, the S&W is another nice 1911 that is close to the Sig, again just my opinion. Both Sig and Rem have series 80 which is not a plus and requires the trigger to do more when you pull it (S&W has a grip safety actuated FP Safety). Rugers trigger is a bit rough out of the box, but after a light trigger job is as crisp and light as a more expensive gun.

The Sig 1911 Fastback Nightmare is the nicest shooting pistol i've ever owned.

But yes, if coin is a issue. Ruger over the Remington.
 
If money's an issue, you can still get in on CanadaAmmo's "1911+ammo" deal for 500 bucks.
And way they're been pushin' out those Rugers to satisfy the U.S. paniced buyers, I'd want to pick one out in person, to avoid a "rattler".
But you never have to worry about QC, with a Norc.;)
 
If u only wanted to buy one 1911 only. STI - hand made in the USA starting around $800 range new. Spartan has Philippines made frame but rest of gun made and assembled in USA.

If u have the means for a Sig, you can afford to look at STI too. The Sig Tac Pack is also a fantastic value. Sigs are worth the asking price if u like the unconventional look. The Tac Pack for under $1100 with 3 eight round mags, and holster is hard to beat.

I have a Ruger and A Remington R1E too. Both are good guns, just depends on purpose if purchase.

Would there be a 9MM varient of the above (or others) that would be highly accurate and reliabile (pretty is secondary) affordablity accuracy and reliability are my keys.
 
Unless you're a 1911 purist, then don't listen to anyone who claims the Sig dead last based on the external extractor. If that matters to you then it wouldn't even be a consideration for you.
The Remingtons are nice, and from what I've seen and felt with the Ruger its decent, but the Sig hands down. I just picked up a TacOps, after much consideration. Sigs with out a doubt are the best value if you have $1200 bucks or so to spend.

BUT like Trebor said, the Norc is a great pistol, and the deal right now is awesome. depends what you're looking for...

The spartan is a very good pistol.

But IMHO the Ruger is a touch better.....

If it has an external extractor or a series 80 safety, I don't seem to like them too much. One or the other I can live with, both no bloody way!

I have 10 (soon 12 1911s) I've owned colt 80 series, STIs, Kimbers, Llamas plus a few misc mil surps. I currently own one STI Spartan, one colt 70s series, one Vietnam era US 1911, one Ruger. The rest...... Norks!

That says something...... I've owned or tried almost every production 1911 pistol currently available. The ones I shoot the most? The Ruger and one of 3 customized Norks. I can't remember the last time I shot my STI.....

If I had to choose only one? For the rest of my life? Today, I would choose the Ruger......

Interesting, but I see where you are coming from. Series 70, stainless. Feel and shoots really well out the box, quality product for under $800. I have a stainless Gold Cup National Match, and a Nork NP29. Had an STI Ranger 2 9mm but I didn't care for commander length - great gun, best trigger (Armco). The NP29 after my trigger job - great shooter, heavy gun, soft recoil. Between the Colt, Remington and Ruger - The Remington is my best shooter (converted to Series 70) Colt is the prettiest, but the Series 80 with National Match trigger ain't as good a trigger pull as the Ruger or R1.

i read this a bit and i wonder why its an issue.
Made in the US.
who cares?
are we saying that the workers in a US factory work harder and make better products then a factory in the Philippians or Pakistan or Canada for that matter?
i can see an american stating this to drive home pride in a product made in their own country rather than an import but for us they are all gonna be imports.
so now we get into quality.
and i have a tuff time saying with a straight face the Made in the US means better quality.

that said i like my Ruger.

I care. I like the fact that a 1911 is still made in the country where it was born.... of course, that doesn't mean it was made by an American either though :p

And no, I don't think everything made in USA = better unfortunately. That's why Detroit is the way it is now.

your probably right.
made in the US by a Mexican National or someone else on a work visa.

guess i just dont see the whole hype on the made in US brand or its crud.
that said, i wouldnt want a Lee Enfield that isnt a Long Branch!!!
