My Sigg 220, issued in `85, has more than 75,000 rounds through it. Most have been my light lead SWC. I've only had to replace some springs such as recoil, trigger return, and decocker springs.

I carried it for 5 years after carrying my Python for 20 years as my duty gun. I carried it for an additional four years when I worked for the courts.

I had Robar put NP3 on it and I put on wood grips. After 20 years, it still looks and shoots as well as the day it was issued.

I bought the Python, NIB in `65 for $100, and carried it for 20 years, until I was forced, kicking and screaming, to transition to autos. That's when the Sig entered the picture.

After 20 years of holster daily wear, it needed a re-blueing. Colt was in the middle of labor problems and my phone call to Colt resulted in a very negative response. A local `smith, who was also a friend, made an offer I couldn't refuse: He'd do the job and if I was not satisfied, there'd be no charge. The Python came back looking like a brand new gun.

I used to use the Python as a standard for accuracy when testing a newly obtained gun. About twoyears ago, I got a 6" Trooper Mark III that shoots a tighter group than the Python. I think it's the extra 2".

By the way, I still have the box and bill of sale for the Python. No,.....it is not for sale even if somebody offered me the opportunity to double my money,

Nine,

Thank you very much.

The line and discoloration on the lower photo of the Python is not an imperfection in the finish. It's a reflection of something. The grips are Mustangs which I bought this year. They fill my hand a little better than the originals, which I still have,

John..your Sig is the first one I've seen with wood grips. Looks very nice.
In regards to your Python..what kind of finish did your friend use? It looks extremely close to the original royal blue.
My Python has a small spot on the under lug that the blueing lifted off of due to jack rabbit blood.
I've considered trying to send it back to Colt to have it refinished but the red tape makes that to frustrating.

Striker,

I can't answer your question because I don't know and my friend passed away a few years ago. I've been to his store, his home, and his home work shop, but I never was invited to the location where he did his metal coatings. I think there may have been OSHA problems. In addition to blue jobs, he also did excellent nickel plating. He nickel plated a Browning Buckmark for me and it is another beautiful gun. Maybe he was in league with the devil and had to keep his process secret.

You are right about it looking like the old Colt Royal Blue or Python Blue. I've had it side by side with older model Pythons and I can't tell the difference. It doesn't look like I carried it for 20 years.

From what I've heard or read, Colt still does an excellent blue job. I would imagine that getting yours to Colt and back would be a pain. Could a Canadian dealer arrange the shipping? It might be worth a phone call or two,

Re: Sig. Those are factory grips that I bought from a DEA agent. I know he got them from Sig,

John

I'll have to make some calls in regards to that. I imagine the price to get it reblued will be scary..
Very sorry to hear about your friend passing away.
