Sig 226 .22 conversion

My wife's has worked flawlessly. Not one complaint about it at all. She also has a walther p22 which has worked perfectly. Maybe she's just lucky! She only uses high velocity ammo though. She went with a sig mosquito so the switch to 226 wouldn't be much different.
 
How much does the .22LR conversion kit for the 226 cost? A P226 is on my wish list for this year and I was thinking of getting the .22 kit as well.
For what it's worth, I can't say enough good things about the 22/45 Mark III, but I think being able to shoot super-cheap ammo with the regular grip of a 226 would be pretty sweet.

I must have shot 4000 rounds through my conversion kit. I only get FTE when the barrel is dirty. You have to find ammo that it likes and clean it after every 500 rounds. I have found the heavier the bullet the better. I like the quick change aspect of the slide.. It is nice having so much trigger time with the gun you will be using in competition. I would recommend the kit to anyone who wants to spend a lot of time with their sig without spending a lot of money.
 
SIG Mosquito .22LR

I recently took delivery of one from P & D in Edmonton. It comes with a hard case, two mags, a fired target, a total of 3 front sights of different heights, two mainsprings (one for hi vel ammo and one for std. vel. ammo) a trigger lock, etc. .........all for about $500.00.

If you want something that closely resembles the SIG centre fire pistols, buy it....if however you want a good value priced .22 s/a pistol, the Ruger Mk. 111 has a better trigger, and better balance, and is not as fussy with some ammo.......
 
The sig forum had quite of info on the conversion kits...most seemed to like them. From what I read the slide does not lock back on the last round. They do seem rather pricey..
 
Mine works good, the biggest problem is avoiding dry firing it, doing so cause the firing pin to peen the upper edge of the chamber leading to hard extractions. this issue is made worse by the lack of a slide lock at the end of the mag. Not sure why Sig could not fix this. It is nice to shoot and great if you use a Sig in IPSC so you can practice cheaply. It's good, it could have been better for the price paid.
 
My father has the conversion for the P226. Works really well! Just wish it had a bolt hold open...

I would not recommend the Mosquito to anyone, had nothing but problems for the first few thousand rounds. Seems to run all right when it hits the 3k mark or so, it was a very frustrating pistol in the beginning, with FTE's and FTF's all the damn time.
