SIg 226 22lr conversion kit

I had a Mosquito and it worked just fine, not problems at all with it. I bought it before the .22 conversions came out. Sold the Mosquito and bought a conversion for my 226, it runs just fine as well.

I have P220 classic... shoots alright with crappy Rem Thunderbolts. Usually suffer when I chamber first round but everything else after that is reliable most of the time. :)

No complaints when P220 classic. I dried fired it many times by accident already (30+ times) b/c my follower upgrade doesn't work well (likely due to ammo) plus i suck, I lose count. Hard to see any issues with pin but zero hint of any damage on 12 o'clock position of barrel.

Sig says no dry fire with their conversions or classic, but someone got email from customer support that it is okay and will suffer no damage but just don't practice dry firing. Beats me but mine seems fine so far.

When I first got my .22 conversion for my Sig P226R, I had many problems with it. Failure to load, failure to eject, empty shells jamming up on the insertion of a new shell. Almost all of these problems I eventually found to be caused by dirty ammo and not enough lube for the slide. After firing a brick or 2 of Mini-mags and Stingers, it works fine now. Still a few jams, and 2 drops of oil on the slide fixes it. Your P226 must be totally cleaned of 22 residue for these conversions to work properly. The conversion kit is wonderful to practice with your P226 without the cost of .40S&W ammo.

However, if I could trade my converion kit (with 2 mags) for a Mosquito, I would.

I use mine a lot, they like to run wet and be kept clean. Watch for peening of the chamber by the firing pin, it will cause your casings to stick. Mine runs fine on cheap Dyna points from Walmart.

I had a mosquito before and a full size P226. I prefered to have 2 different pistols as 22lr is really dirty. I then picked up a nice 226 classic from EE and ditched the mosquito.

Compared to a 226, the mosquito feels like a toy, it is made of plastic, it's light and very small. Perfect size for GF or kid imo; I have small hands, and the mosquito felt really small in my hands.

The only nice thing about the mosquito, is the "proper" functions; the slide locks back on empty mag, which the conversion or classic doesn't do. I bought some parts from jeffsig over at sigforum to fix it (It locks the slide on the mag follower, not with the slide stop).

All in all, the sig 226 classic if a better option vs the mosquito in my book as you train with a pistol same size with the same trigger.

On a side note, I had much less malfunction with the p226 classic than I had with the mosquito.
