Sig 226 Elite Stainless the only all stainless now?

As the heading says, I was perusing the Sigarms site looking for an all stainless model. Is the elite the only all stainless now? The slides of all of them are stainless, I believe, but I'm looking for a steel frame as well.
 
Hehe, I did, about 2 hours ago... from P & D. But the guy I talked to hadn't heard that they were not being made anymore, even though I told him I read about it here. And these forums are always right! ;)

By the way , the above 2 posters... the Sports models referred to and the X series are the same, correct?

Congrats. You got a P226ST? 9mm or 40S&W?

The Sport models were previous factory tuned Sigs. Some had barrel weights, some with compensators. Depending on the model, many had Sport model specific slides(cut and made to mate with the barrel weight and so on).

I don't believe any are currently in production, except for the model of P220 known as the XZone. The X5s, X6s, SLs(europe) and soon Elite models have the stainless frame.
 
I bought it in .40 caliber, thinking I might as well use the heft of the steel to absorb the higher recoil (probably not a huge difference).

I had doubts after going to bed though, DAK sounds nice and the 226 SAS looks mighty pretty to me. Same price as the 226 ST as well.

Being new to pistoleering, how does DA/SA work in shooting sports, you rack it when you draw or just bear witht he heavy first pull/light second onwards? I would think DAO or DAK would be easier.
 
You got the last one, I got the second to last one. Unfortunately for you I bought all their mags. :p

The main advantage of the Elite is the short reset trigger, the rest of it is just cosmetic, and mainly pointless cosmetics with the possible exception of the forward cocking serrations. No-one appears to rate the grip checkering.

It comes out at the end of May according to SIG Arms, I spoke to them, but how long before they come out here is an open question. I couldn't be bothered to wait, you can always get the SRT fitted later.

I thought about getting the X-5 but they cost twice as much and for that you get a better trigger and a slightly longer stainless steel barrel. But my P226R ST is pretty accurate, and the parts are far easier to get, so the X-5 makes no sense. For the money you save you can easily afford the best trigger job known to man and then some. Like a ton of mags and ammo. Plus there are no holsters for the X-5 except generic ones.
 
Actually, I succumbed to my doubts and changed the order to the 226 SAS this morning. Damn, too many gun choices! I'm wondering whether I goofed up. The SAS looks ###y and I couldn't resist. :bangHead:

Good thing too, so far the X-5s are suckin' the hind tity as far as reliability goes.
 
Says who? I haven't heard of reliability problems with them, I have a P226 Sport II SL in 9mm, which is what the X-5 is based on and it's reliable. But that was expensive, the X-5 is heirloom expensive. And for something I want to use for IPSC Standard division that will get knocked about I couldn't part with the money.
 
The extractor is different between the X-5 and a regular 226 (not sure if the sport shares the same extractor as the regular 226). The design is leading to failures to extract/eject. I've seen it in two separate X-5s and experienced it first hand in another. Not coincidence, and imho, not cool in a firearm as expensive as the X-5.
