Does anyone have experience changing gripson the Sig 226(double stack mag) to aluminum grips to reduce the thickness. Does it make a lot of difference or not. I shoot Beretta and S&W 9mm and can shoot much better with either compared to Sig P226, but was thinking of getting one and reducing the grip size to make it fit better...

I got a Stainless 226 that came with the rosewood grips. I too found them big and slippery. I ended up getting a set of Hogue grips for about $10 on e-bay. They don't look as nice but there's great for grip and seem a bit thinner.

I have a set of the Hogue Aluminum grips on my 226 DAK and I really like them. They are a bit thinner but you might find that the suggestion to try the "short" trigger will make a bigger difference and be a cheaper option.
You could wait for the E-2 grips to be availiable but you will have change the mainspring and and hammer strut to get them to fit.

Thanks!

A great big thanks to everyone for your input.

Issue is not the trigger, nor short fingers, but that I have a fat palm. I find that I can shoot much better with smaller gripped guns(particularly with single stack), but like Sig for rating/design/value...

Might have to try Hogue, or modify the factory grips - particularly up top near the web of the shooting hand...

Cheers.

The Hogue aluminum grips make a significant differance in feel, I have a set for the 226 in OD green fo sale in the EE right now. I have them on my 229. They are cold in the winter though....

You may want to try the SCT Sig Magwell Grips. They are slimmer than regular Sig grips and feel awsome to the hand. Questar Int. site sponsor here has them and comes with one 20 rnd mag pinned to 10. They are the same feeling as the P226 Blackwater Tactical.

Can you send me the link to EE posting for the grips? Or can I buy them from you through CGN?
