Bought a 226 40s+w elite and took it to the range and could not hit centre target to save my life lol. Put in on a rest and bingo dead on nice centre groups.iam a 1911 guy and this is my first double action gun .iam I missing something with the grip or does sometimes you can get a gun you can't shoot ?

Trigger pull.

Your grip can be improved slightly, but it is a lot to do with the trigger mechanics.

Try to slow down and concentrate on your sights and a slow steady squeeze.
Also, you will notice the DA pull will often drop the first round... But the SA is better.

You just need some practice with the trigger, try different finger placement, make sure you're pulling it straight back. and just practice with it.

1911 is like fast food chain of a gun word with their quick and easy quarter ponder triggers lol

You went from a gun with a trigger that goes straight back to a pivoting trigger.

Easiest solution is lots of dry fire. Aim sights at a small spot on the wall or light switch and dry fire ensuring the sights don't become misaligned. Do 50 -200 repetitions a night. you should be better at the range after a couple of weeks.

Sight picture, sight picture, sight picture....

X1

Also think most Sigs require a cover or combat hold. If you use the standard centre hold you will shoot low. If you are shooting a bit left you may be pushing trigger slightly in your trigger pull. Try adjusting your grip to ensure pad of trigger finger is pulling trigger straight back.

As mentioned already- trigger pull. I was doing the same until I consciously started adjusting my hand and using only the pad of my finger to pull the trigger. I threw a thicker set of grips on to prevent my knuckle from being able to reach, and also a Wolff main spring to help drop the pull weight a bit.

Agreed. Took me a few hundred rounds to get used to. Common to throw low left when first using a Sig. Don't adjust the sights. Practice slow smooth pull you will get used to it. DA definitely a lot heaver and more travel than a 1911. Practice doing it correctly. I can consistently do 3" groups with mine at 10yards that are dead on bull. I was throwing about 4-6" low left to begin with.
