So I'm shooting the sig 226 and noticed that on my last shot the slide does not stay open. First I thought it was maybe the mags. Nope, not the mags. Then I tried the Win clean ammo still not holding open. I figured I would email The Edge and ask the pros whats up. On my way home it dawned on me. I hold the gun with a high thumb hold. My thumb rests on the slide release. Unfortunatly Its the way I am used to holdng my guns. Thumbs forward. I guess I'm asking has anyone else had this issue with holding the sig?

Yep. I was used to shooting a 1911 and when I switched to the SIG I was thumbing the slide release down constantly. No real fix other than to keep your thumb down.

I have the same problem - takes alot more effort than some would think to move your thumb down after being taught to keep your thumb up on a 1911 safety. The one thing it did teach me to start doing was to count my rounds and always keep one in the pipe...

I did the same thing. I learned to modify my grip with the Sig, no big issue, once you figure out what you are doing wrong.

slide stops are pretty useless....i would deactivate all of them if i could.

X2. Never rely on a slide stop. Most of them are flaky at the best of times. Don't run your gun dry and it won't matter if it works or not.

The thumb on the slide stop appears a fair bit on the Sigforum, also happens with new mags and guns, I have one mag that does not fully engage the slide stop. I am going to use it a bit more to see if it will fix itself, if not I will work on it a bit.
