Sig 226R in 9mm or .40 S&W?

Today I shot someone's SP2022 in .40 and couldn't believe how accurate it was. I own a CZ 85C in 9mm and can't get a grouping like I did with the Sig. Now I'm thinking of maybe getting the Sig 226R but was wondering if I should get it in 9mm or .40. Was it the .40 that made the SP2022 so accurate or the fact that it was a Sig?

I recently picked up a Sig 226 in 9mm. I was very impressed with the accuracy. I think its the quality of the gun. Functions superbly I would recommend it to anyone. You get what you pay for.

You said it right there. I have owned both 2022 and still own a 226 Elite and there are/were both very accurate. I did like the 226 a little more as it fits in my hand better.
 
go for SIG 226 ... considering the actual price of 40SW ammo, I'll go with the 9mm.
I have a SIG 226R Elite SS in 9mm and it's one of the best pistol ever built, super accurate and reliable!
 
Normally I'd say go with 9mm because its cheaper but since you already have a 9mm get the .40 (unless you plan to sell your 9mm then get it in 9mm).

Also consider getting the .22l Classic (~$750) version from Questar and the .40 conversion kit (~$500), the cost is basically the same as getting the .40 version (~$1200) and you can shoot .22lr for almost nothing.
 
Thanks guys. Now the thing is that there's a brand new 226R in .40 for sale for less than $1,000 tax in or I can get a 9mm one for about $1,356 tax in. The issue I have is that the 9mm one I saw today the frame was made in the States. If I'm buying a Sig I want the pistol to be made in Germany and not the states. He also has a blackwater 226R made in Germany but it's about $1,600 + tax. What to do. Lol.

Is this because German Sigs are better made or for snob appeal? I have heard nothing negative about American Sigs but if you have pass the information along.
 
I vote for checking the EE. That is where I got my 226r. There are usually a couple sigs on there and it is a pretty safe gun to buy used. Not alot of broken sigs floating around!

I also vote for 9mm for cost and because that is what I have so it must be the best ;)
 
I belive that alot of the German made SIGs are the Mastershop, Custom Shop, X series, and special runs! Seems most of the SIGs we see in north america have the frames and or parts made in Germany and they are assembled in Exeter.

There is lots of info on this on sigforum.
