Has anyone seen a SIG 229 Sport in Canada? Is it available?

SIG lists them on their site under Handguns/Sport Pistols: http://www.sigarms.com/products/sportpistols-models.asp?product_id=46

Normally, the 229 wouldn't be available as a Restricted, but the sport has a 4.8 inch barrel length, which I am guessing would make it OK.

If anyone has had any experience shooting the P229S in .40 or .357 SIG I would be interested in their impressions of the gun.

Thanks

Idon`t have experience shooting the P229s .But I do have a P229 in 40S&W .It is one of the nicest shooting 40s out the there .The heavy slide definantly helps with the recoil. I can just imagine how much nicer it is in the P229s version .

Quite a long time ago too.

I never really understood the logic behind this gun, it was advertised as being designed for IPSC, but it didn't make major when it came out in .357 SIG so I couldn't understand what they were on about. I did see them advertised later in .40 S&W but I think they're pretty rare in that calibre, the only place I can ever remember seeing one in .40 S&W was the SHOT show, IIRC.

There's nothing particularly wrong with them, it's just a solution to a question no-one asked. The only problem I've heard of is the barrel weight coming loose, although I think the US models only had the compensator.

It was the first foray of Sauer into making stainless steel frames, because people (like me) complained about the frame on the P229 crapping out too quickly when you really shot the snot out of them.

Thanks for the information. It is disappointing to hear that the gun is discontinued. However, I have just learned that a P229X-Range is available here and is "exactly the same gun."

Problem is I have never heard of a P229X-Range and can't find it on the web. Does anyone know anything about this gun?

Thanks

Mystery solved. The P229X-RANGE is a German Manufactured SIG sport pistol and is just another name for the P229S. It is also discontinued.

Thanks again for all the input. It has been very helpful.
