Sig 229

I would like to know as well. I visited a local gun shop and was told the bbl in the 229 was a factory extended directly from SIG.

For sure: 106mm Made for Canada.

If you buy the 9mm you can only use the 9mm barrel in it. If you buy the .357SIG or .40S&W you can buy the other barrel for it and still use the magazines you have. You can also reportedly buy a 9mm conversion for the .357 SIG or .40S&W but it is not near as reliable as the original .357/.40 options according to some reports.

Mine works fine in 9mm. I haven't had a jam with it yet. I'm even using .40 mags without problems.

The 229 comes with a factory extended barrel. You can get replacements, and conversion's.

Mine came in 40 standard, but I sold that one off and bought a 357 Sig and 9mm barrel.

No problems, I didn't change anything other than the barrel.

Questar brought in the first P229 Elite's sold to civilians in Canada... those guns we imported with custom made 106mm EFK National Match barrels (in both 9mm and 40S&W).

Later Nicholls ordered a shipment of P229's from SIGARMS USA and those guns had a 106mm barrel done by SIG themselves.

We still have the EFK barrels for anyone that specifically wants that configuration.

We also offer the Nicholls' "106mm factory" barrel in 9mm as shown on our website (SIG Price List).

There is a also a 106mm custom Match Grade barrel for the P229 offered by BarSto and we have those available as well... comes in 9mm, 40S&W and there's also a conversion barrel (converts 40S&W P229 to a 9mm).

Looking for the right gun

I am looking at replacing my P226 with the 229 but I want to shoot it in IDPA and need it to be of factory configuration, meaning I need to know that the barrel comes from SIG.

TSE had Swiss Arms produce some P229s with factory extended threaded barrels. They were serialized to the guns at the factory. This was done about three years ago. The current guns do come from the factory with extended barrels, but they are not threaded and not serialized.
