I saw one on the pistol exchange, and it was picked up by one of you guys before I could think twice about it. Just wondering who's shot one, what they're like. What's the good & bad on this pistol, (I'm looking for some last minute input, cuz I want to rush out & get one Now!)

It's the same gun as a regular, except it comes with an extended threaded barrel which is long enough to make the gun Canada-legal. You won't find too many people here with first hand experience with a P239. Best bet would be to check out sigforum.com....lots of good info there.

I had this thread from awhile back. There is a bit of bumpf at the beginning. The gun then shows up and my review starts at post #41:

I put some other photos together here. Some 239 stuff in there:

And this is a thread doing a quick comparison with the 230 and the 239 (the 230 is not mine unfortunately):

The 229 and 239 are internally quite similar... The 239 has a flat spring, rather than a wound spring, that is one difference.

What did you want to know about the 239 specifically? It is a single stack. The grip is much smaller and flater than the SIGs people are used to. The front strap is also more "square" than other sigs. This is lessened if you use the Houge wrap-around grips. I tried the Hogue grips for awhile, but I actually prefer the stock grips. The construction of the slide is almost identical to the 229 (the 239 is a bit slimer), but the frame is somewhat of a different ballgame. Have a look at some of the photos in my posts. The gun is pretty much as accurate as any other stock (non X-5, etc.) type SIG. It is a very accurate gun. One thing that I don't completely dig about the 239 is that the slide-stop lever is very flat against the frame vis-a-vis a normal SIG. It actually sits inside a notch cut into the grip. This is to make it fit flatter against the body. The gun is clearly designed as a concealled carry version of a full-size SIG. If you ever have a tendacy to hold the slide-stop lever down on a SIG, this will be magnified with the 239. You can train yourself to not do that though.

Overall I think they are a great gun to have. If you are only going to buy one SIG, get a 226 or 229 (or 220 if you like .45), but if you already have some different stuff and want something a bit unique, absolutley go for a 39. They are a fantastic little gun. I just wish we could get a few different models, rather than just the TAC 9mm.

I have one that I bought basically to see what everyone on Sigforum was raving about and I figured they wouldn't be availiable here for long. I agree with Ghostie's excellent review except that I prefer the Hogue grips as I find the stock grips a little too small for comfort.
The pistol has been very reliable and fun to shoot but I find it gets left in the safe a lot in favour of my 229 or 226. Ten round mags are availiable and they work well but the giant base plate makes them look a little odd. The pistol was designed for concealed carry;although it's not all that small compared to others, and would work great in that role which of course doesen't apply to us.
Over all I'm impressed with the pistols function and fit and finish but if I was only going to have one Sig I would go with the 229.

You can get them brand new at Questar (Sponsor Link Above) for almost the same price as the one you saw in the EE. I suggest you call them and see if they have one in stock. I hear good things about them. Good luck! :D

Thanks guys for all the great info, (especially you ghostie)!! :) I was talking to my friendly neighbourhood hunting/fishing/gun store and after 3 requests for info & to order one (if not 12.6) they still didn't come back with postive news. It's good to know you knowledgible guys are around.

Well, I'm off to Questar.
