Sig 516

hey it was an honest and real question. There is no other intentions behind it. I didn't know that you are that sensitive. I thought EE is an open forum (anyone can register), is it not?
Please don't take my question as an offence as I was genuinely interested on your rifle but not familiar with the pricing and etc and was going to have people to joining in the conversation to hear different opinions.

You don't have to explain any reasoning. You are right about that.

You can always PM me and will certainly play using your "guideline."

That's why we have public forum. Thank you for pointing that out, since I was considering buying used for so much more. :)

New & made in Germany! Cool!

There was some sarcasm implied in my original comment!

Guns are like cars...they are assembled from parts made anywhere and everywhere. Gun companies like to save $$$ too and I'd be willing to bet there isn't as much difference between the 2 guns as some would like us to believe. The same could be said for the U.S. Sig 556 series and Swiss/German Sig 550 series...of course a person would have to compare the 2 side by side to verify if it's fact or fiction!

Okay, fair enough, no hard feelings. I got my back up, I'll admit. In any case, nice that Tactical Imports is able to get these in. It is an awesome gun. I shoot it along side my Swiss Arms 17.9 carbine, and in many ways I prefer the SIG.

The German 516's are a bit different than the US ones. In many ways the US one is a bit better.

The barrel on the US gun is Mil-Spec, chrome-lined / hammer forged and very light weight. The German one in not chrome-lined and is much heavier, making it much more like the HK MR223. If you get to examine the quality the US made gun is amazing and gives up nothing in fit / finish or quality to the German made one.

If you want a heavy pig buy the German one, lightweight with 5.56mm chamber, chrome-lined hammer forged barrel, get the US one. There are no more US ones coming in so I place it's value much higher than the German one.
