Anyone know of a Canadian vendor for this or the S&W M&P15?

What is the cost of dealing with someone like Questar for the import of something like this?

Hey, while I'm asking any one have any experience with Dlask Arms out of BC?

Cheers

MD

I believe the Sig 556 has been deemed to be a variant and has a prohibited FRT number.
The S&W rifle has been getting denied export permits lately as it has features that the U.S. Department of State feel are not very sporting.
Search Dlask or IBS and you will find a fine collection of existing threads.

The Smith guns are made by the same people that make Stag, so if you're not hung up on the name then you can call Armseast (CGN Supporter see ad above) he'll be able to set you up.

Exact same rifle, except you don't have to pay an extra $500-$600 for a S&W roll stamped logo!

Errr, no. Smith and Wesson doesn't make rifles, never has and probably never will - though with no Winchester around I don't know if the deal would stand except that it was a gentleman's agreement.

The question involved either the 556 or the S&W AR, as we all now know the 556 is a no go - prohib. We are now establishing that S&W don't actually MAKE rifles, they just 'brand' them. Now back to our originally scheduled program, already in progress.......:D

thanks for the input fellas
reread my post and i had left a few things out. it looks like that you knew what i was looking for though.
too bad about the 556, i like the 3 rail look.
i like the dlasks and will look closer at the stag offerings
at the end of the day i can just change the rails to suit my shallow concern for how she looks!!

I believe that handguard fits to 550, so you could order a Black special and just bring in a handguard.

AFAIK, the only thing on this rifle that comes for S&W is the logo. They market the gun, and are the "maker", but in truth this is just badge engineering.

Similar to the old S&W bolt action rifles. Howa made the guns, and S&W supplied the name and marketing.
I remember those Smith rifles... I think it was the model 1500 or something like that. I believe many were made in Japan... back in the late '70s when they still had excellent manufacturing standards.

Just because that article states it is "Smith and Wesson manufactured", doesn't mean it's so.

Apparently the media believes that Nortel is Canada's largest telecommunications manufacturer (I read that often) when in fact, Nortel doesn't make a bloody thing anymore. All manufacturing is outsourced. But hey, they stick a Nortel stamp on it, so the media says it MUST be Nortel manufactured!

Welcome to todays world, the world of outsourcing.
