was down in the states and seen the sig 556 whats the scoop.
a sig that took ar mags and was reletivly cheap $1300 with accesories.
restricted or non

The item being sold is a 'lower' with Swiss Arms rifles the 'Upper' is the registered component (gun). Therefore what is being sold is a gun part, not a gun. "Thank God for BS gunlaws, for therein ye shall find loopholes, many of which ye may drive the sacred busses of righteousness through" - me :D

Makes sense.

The PE90 is prohibited as a variant of the SG 550.

+1

What we get is the Sig Classic Green, Black Special, Blue Star, Red Devil, the Carbine, and the CQB.

They are 'based' off of the Sig 540 (precursor to the 550, or what the 550 is based on), which is non restricted.

Since the 556 is based off the 550, it is also prohibeted.

See what happens when you let people that hate guns make your gun laws?
We wouldn't stand for motor vehicle laws made by people that could not drive, and there is no way that flight rules would be made by those that are afraid to fly, but it seems to make perfect sense to have gun laws made by clowns that have never even held a gun.

Not true, wolverine carries the PE90 (sig blue special) as a non-restricted rifle.
I have played with a few myself when I lived in western Canada. They have been around since 2006.

Just like the CZ61 is technically prohib but the Cz91 isn't

Actually we are the original importers and distributors of the Swiss Sporting Line-up currently known as;

Blue Star (the one that started it all) first imported in 2002 - non-restricted
Classic Green (non-restricted)
Black Special (non-restricted)
Black Special Target (non-restricted)
Classic Green Carbine (restricted)
Classic Green CQB (restricted)

As noted, the Swiss Arms rifles are developed from the Sig 540, since the 540 preceeded the 550, the Swiss Arms rifles can not be variants of the 550. They are similar, but more like brothers than twins - both are evolved from the 540, one is prohib the other isn't. The PE90 is the semi auto version of the 550 therefore it is prohib. Many people, including some dealers use the labels interchangeably, which is technically incorrect.

Yep, the uppers that we get are 'essentially' a 550 upper (not sure if the bolt carrier is different or not), but the lower reciever has comnpletely different internals, and different pin locations, so its incompatable with the 550 fire control parts.

I think thats the difference anyways.

Ok now it is clear why the online searches pull this up.
I see. Complicated answer. :sniper:

JR,

Any idea as to the actual numbers of Blue Stars imported since 2002? Just wondering as I currently have one in the safe!:)
