Sig 556?

Given the decline in quality of SIG Sauer handguns since Ron Cohen took over, it should not be a surprise that the 556 is a POS. To my mind, the whole point of buying one of the Swiss Arms rifles is for the high quality of manufacturing and documented rigorous testing. A cheaper version made for Bubba to shoot rats at the dump sort of defeats the purpose.

Actaully early 556's were excellent rifles as they were made with all Swiss internals and barrels. The first 3 thousand or so. Many guys who know try and buy them up as the quality is every bit as good as the 550. Sig USA was slow in tooling so snuck some surplus parts in. You can tell by the color of the steel. Not to hard to distinguish really.

So the early 556 was much closer in quality due to using Swiss parts. Now they use no Swiss parts and more American parts. Swiss parts are better than American parts thus Swiss rifles are better than American rifles.

We can debate this until the cows come home and the deliberately obtuse will still deny it. The Swiss-manufactured PE90 is of higher quality than the American manufactured 556.

To put it another way, I have a Rolex and a Timex. They're both good watches, but which one is of higher quality?

this sums it up
