I'd grab it rather than a Pe-90

If you changed the stock then maybe. Still its a variant so I'll dream about spending my money on something else, such as the PS90.

With the longer barrel, maybe but I doubt it. If I ever got one I'd get the 10.5 like the others guys who got them in Canada did.

It's funny, I read a post on a US forum, the poster was terribly disappointed, hated the front end, hated the stock - all he wanted was a PE90 ! We only want what we can't have.

I like the PE90, too, but the fact that this rifle accepts regular AR mags, is the attraction for me. I just don't like the proprietary mag design, no matter how good design it is.

All the modifications done by American 556 owners have been to make the rifle appear more like its original but distant Swiss cousin, including buying atrociously overpriced complete lower receivers, swapping out the handguards to original SIG 551 hg's and replacing the stock rail and front sight post with authentic SIG manufactured sights imported from Switzerland or Canada. Some of you guys don't realize how lucky we are with the Classic Green/CQB series...

I'll be highly surprised if the rifle does not turn out to be another hardly and reliable SIG. My opinion is that it is a fine rifle but the Swiss Arms is finer. Unfortunately its anther Canadian example of not having options and we can only have the Swiss Arms but in this one case I don’t really mind. :)

the german GSG9 uses them. The french Combat Divers and several other special forces use them, so what??

British SAS are now using the SIG 552 Commando...kinda' like "our" SIG CQB!:D

The SIG 556 has absolutely no appeal for me. Its a FUGLY abortion of a design. So it can use AR-15 magazines...so what? I'll continue to use my AR-15 mags in my AR-15s. Funny, I was reading Patrick Sweeney's book, the Complete AR-15 and in it, he outright criticizes the design and materials of the AR-15/M-16 magazine, wishing, instead that manufacturers would start producing magazines that were as good as the SIG/Swiss Arms polymer mags!:D Like the other guys said, the grass is always greener!
