Sig 716 AR 308

I got to fire one a few weeks ago at a shoot at my local club that was sponsored by "The Gun Dealer". The 716 is really quite nice. The trigger was clean and crisp, the weight really didnt feel much different than that of an AR and most surprisingly, the recoil was very tame.

So time for a "bump" I'm thinking that there are few more of these rifles in Canada now, and hoping some "end users" will pass along there experience and opinions. I'm curious to know if anyone experienced any ammo issues? of FTF? and if so with what types of ammo? Down south some owners alleviated this problem by running the rifle on the "adverse" setting. Cheers

At least the .308 PMAG problem has been solved :)
I passed on the SIG myself. A combination of lack of user feedback and availability quenched the burning desire for one.
The M & P 10 caught my eye, so I went with that. We will see what happens next year, spring / summer, maybe the SIG will be on the radar again.

What optic would you run on the SIG? 1-6X , 1-8x, 2-10x......3-15x etc? Or just a ACOG / Aimpoint T1?

I can post a picture of my 11 .308 Pmags if you want. LOL

I still think for the price the SIG fits a "niche", at least so far as I'm concerned.I'll be running a Leupold Mark 6 in the the 1X6 range. You have me beat in the Pmags though, LOL I only scooped 5, :)

What are some of the differences between the SIG and S&W, beside piston vs DI?

I agree with the "niche", After $1400-$1600 for an Armalite or DPMS, you jump right to $3000+ for LMT / PWS and $4500 for a KAC.

The M&P 10 has a few improvements, but nothing ground breaking. I believe they added value to the base rifle while not hanging $800 worth of rails and accessories on it.

The Ambi set up is a little different, it has an Ambi safety (SIG does not). The Lower is Forged with a integral trigger guard.

I am looking forward to the barrel. It is an 18" 1/10 5R cut. Heavy under the hand guards, thin after the gas block.Just about everything you read has this rifle Sub-MOA, even down to .5" with Hornady 165gr SST.

Some don't like the barrel extension is a S&W piece. No swapping barrels. Which doesn't bother me, I would rather just swap a complete upper.

Price. If you go by IRG, the difference is close to $600.

Here are some Articles.

I read a quick review on M4Carbine, the reviewer changed out the A2 grip, stock and the hand guards immediately. I see that it uses M4 parts as the Magpul hand guards fitted no problem. What I did like about the SIG was the 16" barrel.

I asked about the scope because I can't decide. First a 4x fixed or 1-6x because my range is not big. Then I think with the 18" I can do longer ranges, maybe get a 2-10 or 3-18x. Then I think why not get the 5-20x or 5-25+ and then I can use it on a Bolt Gun too.

It's never easy.

Good points, for me it was an "easier" decision, I only have access to a 200m range, so the 1X6 is more than enough. Leupold's glass had come along way since the Mark 4 line. The Mark 6 is a true 1 power at the lowest setting, so much like an Aimpoint, red dot and all. I also considered a Bushnell HDMR as well. They make a FDE version, :)
