.... Just to throw my two cents worth ! Given it's a pistol, the accuracy difference or potential in negligable. The 45 has been around fore-ever and a day, and there's lots of data available, the 40 has about the same recoil as a 357. The 9mm is accurate enough, easy to reload and there's usually lots of brass available, which is probably not true of the others. It should be noted that of the Police forces that went to the 40, the performance has been good, but training has not been easy due to the recoil and blast. Also, the 9mm has a wide variety of projectiles available, where it may fall down in performance is in some of the action sports, however, the recovery time , the result of a lighter recoil , may compensate . Having reloaded both 9mm and 45ACP, I'd say the 9mm is cheaper (smaller capacity) and maybe a bit easier to work with as the cases are not so easily "bent, folded , or mutilated " ...If I had to choose, which to carry as a duty weapon calibre, the choice would be 45ACP , with factory loads, but that's another debate altogether ! And given a choice, all other things being equal, stainless is the way to go ! .... David K.
