The P229 may not have a smaller grip than the P226, but it does have a shorter trigger reach even with the standard trigger (it feels the same as the P228, the best feeling Sig ever made). There is also a short reach trigger as well as a short reset trigger available. If you can find a P225 they're very nice, too.

Is the 229 frame the same size as the 226?

Do all 226's have the same size frame?

The P229 frame is different, I've never measured it, but the grip certainly feels smaller.

My wife has small hands and she finds the p226 comfortable.

I have really small hands (Size 6). I don't own any Sigs, but did try the 226 & 229 club guns and didn't feel comfortable with either. Also, my accuracy with the 229 was miserable.

I have yet to find anything that's more comfortable than the Shadow for my small hands. The 1911 with thin grips come close second.

I installed a Short Trigger and it made a world of difference.
I don't have small hands, but felt much better.
