Can someone tell me if the Sig contrast sights are adequate for target shooting or are the night sights a welcome improvement for $50 more?

I believe the original sights are a single dot on top of one another, whereas the upgraded sights are 3 dot. Just wondering if purchasing the cheaper contrast sights will be suitable as I progress in my shooting ability.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think the contrast sight are actually a bar on the rear sight and a dot in front; Thus called the "Dot the i" sights.

I personnaly have no experience with those sights...

that's what I was trying to get at, wasn't sure the name for that type of sight but I have only ever used 3 dot sights ... if anyone has experience shooting the "i" sights can you chime in?

I have the contrast on my 226 and the wife has the night sights on her 239. No difference on these sights for me really, so I'd use the $50 saved for ammo.

Yes, they can be replace with an assortment of aftermarket sights that are avaiable. You can either carefully knock them out with a brass punch, or find the proper SIG sight pusher and use it.
