Sig Cross Loose Hinge

I traded for a Sig Cross in 6.5CM about a year ago and I haven't done much with it until recently.

The hinge has quite a bit of play. The play is in the hinge pin, the screws are tight and the movement isn't between the hinge plates and the receiver/stock. Its a loose hinge pin.

Has anyone else seen this?

Does MDC still handle warranty for Sig in Canada?

Would one of the MDT folding stock adapters work on your rifle. They are solid pieces of ingenuity.
 
Was this looseness present from new, or did it develop over time? Did the hinge pin wear, or the hinges themselves?

This is disturbing to read. I fold mine every time I put it into the safe, but haven't seen any sign of any wear yet. Will be watching closely; thanks for posting.

I traded for it with a friend that bought it from new. He fired less than 20 rounds.

When we traded the hinge screws were very loose so it was all very sloppy. I figured it was just the loose screws.

After I tightened the screws it had almost zero play, just a very small amount that was hard to tell unless you were really looking for it, so little I was willing to live with it.
Since then it has loosened up to the amount you saw in the video. I haven't fired it mush yet either, 10rds only actually.
I maybe folded the stock a dozen times, always carefully.

I emailed MDC yesterday morning and got a reply back right away. After a few questions back and forth they asked me if I wanted to send them the rifle or have a new hinge mailed to me. I said new hinged mailed and haven't heard anything back so I'm guessing it will just show up.

I'll update when I have news.
 
It is not the hinge. It is human.

My friend didn't know how the folding mech works, so he yanked it like he would with the other SIG stock like the MCX. After his brute force attempt, it became loose like that.

I don’t think that was the case here, I was familiar with how this stock folds(it is a bit tricky if you do t know so I get that) but I was gentle with it as I always am with folding stocks. I’ve have at least 6 other folders over the years and I’ve never had one get loose.
 
Sig has a new design on their latest model that is easier to operate and hopefully more durable, I think it might be connected with a rail though and not compatible with the original.

I can see that happening, specially on the opening as other stocks don't need much effort to deploy from the folded position.
 
Update: The new hinge arrived just before the holidays, I just got around to installing it last week.

It locks up very tight, no wobble now. All is well.

Great news!

I got in touch with MD Charlton before Christmas and sent them a video clip of my loose hinge.

They have requested that I mail them the entire rifle so that they can deal with it..... I was hoping to just send them the hinge for an exchange but for some reason my situation is different and requires the entire rifle to be shipped back and forth.
