SIG Cross Owners

I like mine a lot no issues shoots sub moa. Shot a 3.5 inch group at 500yards the other night with some sellier and bellot fmjbt’s 140grain. Wasn’t expecting that with that particular ammo.

What is the muzzle thread pitch for the 308? Do the shoulder and everything work with typical AR 308 muzzle devices?

Any new owners lately? Pics? Impressions? Review?

Finally got my 6.5 out yesterday, using hornaday 143 precision hunter ammo, shot a .85 three shot group after bore sighting and getting on target. Didn’t have my chronograph so not sure on speed but so far I am loving it! Oh and I checked the fired brass and it’s about four thou longer at the shoulder after firing.

Sounds great. What does that brass measurement tell you?

Both mine and my buddies Cross rifles have shot sub MOA groups. In his we ran S&B and in mine were old handholds I had from a previous rifle with 139 Scenars. Both rifles are in 6.5CM. Personally, I think they shoot as well as any Tikka I have owned, and I've owned a bunch.

Using 143gr precision hunter I was getting average 2535 FPS. A little slower than I thought it would be but not too bad.

Got mine out Monday for some load development for hunting with some 129gr Nosler ABLR's or 130gr Sierra Gamechangers and H4350. Was happy to see some 5 shot sub moa groups (most pretty close to MOA) and some good 3 shot groups. Was unsure how it would do based on some of the review's I've read but I'm happy so far. Will see how it does with 140gr BTHP and what little 147 ELDM's I have left.

Got my Sig Cross 308 yesterday....first thing I liked was that the security tape from Sig was not tampered with. So the box had never been open since leaving the factory. Just a glitch I have...dont like unknowns playing with my new rifle before me.....I love it..but on some M-loc connectores for a stubby for grip and a bi-pod...so cant wait to get to the range.
The only thing I wish, was that they would have kept the ejection port cover, like on the proto types or the Sig movie clips. I think that was a good idea..Oh well, cant have everything I guess.
Looks like it will be a shooter..

Need pics! :)

I got my new Sig Cross out to the range on the weekend. I started at 50 yards with about 20 rounds of a few different cheap ammo types. I started by bore sighting it which worked fairly well as you can see. The center was where I sighted it in and then refined that with a few shots on the bottom. That was all done using Federal Power-Shok 150gr. Then I tried a couple five round groups with PMC 147gr (top left) and Rangemaster 145gr (top right) - both about $1/round. Two of the PMC went through the same hole, as I shot 5 rounds and only see 4 holes :D

I stopped after that as I wanted to clean it before doing any more, and my right ear was also ringing... it seems my ear-pro was not making a sealed connection with the way I was holding it. I may have to double up ear-pro on that side but I was shooting out of a lead sled so it was hard to get a proper hold on the rifle.

Overall, it looks like it shoots cheap-a$$ ammo just fine. I will test it out at 100 Yds after a good cleaning next time.

I noticed the bolt was a bit stiff and difficult to lock into battery at first, but it got a lot easier within a few shots. I wonder why that is. The review on MAC had this problem consistently. I hope it's just a break-in issue.

I'm using a Trijicon AccuPoint 2.5-10x with 56mm objective with a red post reticule on a Weaver mount. I like the simplicity of the red post and it's great for short range shooting/hunting which is all I will likely ever do. I've also got an Atlas BT-46 with a M-Lok adapter on there. The brake is an inexpensive Miculek brake that came without the locking nut, but interestingly it times perfectly onto the threads without a washer or nut.

Nice post based on the 308 version!
Looking forward in seeing how it does at 100

Can’t get out to the range until next weekend now, but I’m looking forward to seeing what it does as well.

Meanwhile, it would be great to hear from other recent owners. How’s your gun shooting?

Why would you need a cover over the ejection port of a bolt gun???

No different than any other with an ejection port cover, to keep dirt and pine needles and stuff, out of the working parts of the action
