Sig Cross

I wonder if there will be delays getting them imported in Canada if they fold down too short for the min overall length for non restricted.
I doubt Sig will be quick to produce Canadian compliant rifles with slightly longer barrels.

The 6.5 creedmoor version is legal folded but not the .308. They mentioned coming out with longer barrel lengths in the future so might take a while... alternatively whoever brings them in could install a muzzle device to increase overall length to legal length.

I thought muzzle devices don't contribute to legal barrel length. Again, I hope I am wrong. Sorry I don't mean to be a pessimist. I really like these rifles.

We aren't concerned with legal barrel length with this rifle as it is manual action. Overall length is what matters, so a muzzle device would be fine.

You are thinking of semi automatic barrel length in which case that would be correct, a muzzle device does not count toward barrel length.

A muzzle device doesn't count towards barrel length at all, regardless of action type.

I'm not talking about barrel length... I'm talking about overall length of the entire firearm. For manual action firearms barrel length does not matter, it just needs to be over 26" in overall length (and in some cases like mares legs can be less).

Here's a pic of my non restricted bolt action with a 12.5" barrel. Its non restricted because the overall.length is greater than 26".

OAL for this rifle would be with stock open as you can not operate the action and is clearly not designed to be fired with it folded, therefore, all available lengths should be permitted and NR in Canada, in theory.

“ Any firearm that can be fired when it can be reduced by folding, telescopic stock, etc. to an overall length of less than 660 mm (26 inches).”

It can still fire folded, so that is highly unlikely. You just cant operate the action when folded.

The fix is an interesting rifle and this will clearly cut into their market share even appearing as a blatant rip off. I have no doubts Sig will sell more than Q at below half the price

Kevin was working at Sig durning the development of the Cross.
He left, and started Q. So, if anyone ripped off anyone, it was the other way around.

Entirely possible, but Q was opened in 2016 and the fix has been out for 3 years. There would have been a lawsuit by Sig if he stole IP 4 years ago. I'm no fan of KB, who (allegedly) stalks his ex wife and has a rough reputation with customer service. Hell even his titanium stuff isn't great. Haven't found anything on the sig's dev timeline, although for a company with nearly 100 engineers you'd think they could bring concept to market faster than a dude with a few million dollars and a cnc. I'd love to try a cross when they're available though

A SIG employee said in one of the hype videos something like 'we developed most of this many years ago, then shelved it, and just recently picked it back up and finished it.'

That's a sweet rifle, makes me wanna build one even more now. Have you done any accuracy tests yet?
