Hi everyone,
I've owned 8 or 10 Sigs (and clones) over the years but never really took one apart before, so I have a question for you all.
I have a West German P226 that I sent off to my gunsmith for a couple tweaks and when it came back the decocker no longer works. To be clear, my gunsmith has offered to fix it, but partially because I'm impatient and don't want to wait for him, and partially out of curiosity to see if it's an easy fix that I can remedy myself, I would like to see if anyone here can explain what I need to know.
The decocking lever moves freely, the spring returns it to its upright position, but it is not engaging with whatever internal mechanism and therefore not dropping the hammer. I have only removed the grips, nothing further, to try to see what is amiss but I can't even find a decent diagram online to explain what it is I should be looking for. I can put a 1911 or Glock or Beretta back together in my sleep, but like I said I've never really tinkered with a Sig before despite owning many over the years.
Anyway, please let me know if you have any tips or if I should just swallow my pride and let someone who knows what they're doing fix it, even if it takes a few weeks to get her back.
Thanks for looking!
