Sig in .308

The only issue with not running surplus 7.62 x 39 is finding commercial ammo... Last I heard, there was still a US export ban in place. I've still seen the US-made commercial stuff in Canada, but I believe it's becoming scarce.

Can someone familiar with the US export situation please comment? Thx.

In a recent CSSA newsletter, they explained the current shortages of 5.56x45 and 7.62x39. The 5.56 is in short supply because the US military is using so much, all production is going to Iraq. The 7.62x39 is not allowed to be exported out of the US, because they are worried about it making its way into enemy hands.Seems kind of a strech, to think that Iraqi rebels would have to get AK ammo from the west. I bet there is more left over ammo in Iraq than guys to carry it all.

Is this .308 sig based off the Sig 550/551 series, or the 540 series like our rainbow assortment of Specials? I would presume it's the 550 series which means it could be a long long time before we see something like this here.

I realize that this is waaaaay premature, but does anyone know (TSE guys) if the 7.62x39 will have a real .311 bore or if it will use the 'American Style' .308 bore.

well i read that they were M14 mags. i'll go look for the info.....

Da für den US-Markt entwickelt, werden M14-Magazine genutzt - hier gefällt mir die Lösung mit G3-Magazinen im HK 417 besser, auch wenn man dadurch aus den Verschlussfang verzichten muss...

which basically means for the US market M14 mag was used.
