Hey guys,

For some reason I got a hankerin to get a sig these days. I have tossed around the idea of picking up the mosuito, but always talk myself out of it just before I bite the bullet. For a few days now I have been pondering the new 239 tactical with a threaded barrel (which of course lengthens the barrel) for not quite sold on it yet. What I really like though, is the P232! That in all stainless is just ###y to me. 380 wouldnt be my first calibre choice but beggers cant be choosers i suppose.

Anyways, my question to fine folks would be.
1) Have you ever seen a P232 for sale, threaded barrel or not?
2) If so where? Exchange forum, shops?
3) If a fellow wanted to order one, would you reccomned one place over another?
4) Would it be possible to order one new and get a longer/threaded barrel from the get go?

Thanks guys,
any input is welcome

Yes, there is the odd one that will come up for sale in the EE, (not many)
Ordering one isnt an option as they are 12(6) prohib and cant be brought into Canada anymore.

If you found one for sale, you might be able to arrange for to have it rebarreled and verified as restricted before it is transfered to you, and you take possesion of it.

I have a P226 with over 4000 rounds through it and I've never even had a single failure.

That said, steer clear of the Mosquito! I saw one guy bring a brand new one to the range and it had it all: failure to feed, failure to fire, and failure to eject (stovepipe). It seemed like he could never successfully fire 10 rounds in a row without encountering a failure.

Occasionally, you might see some P239's on the EE forum.

Go with the P226, you can't go wrong. If you want something a little smaller go with the P225

Thanks for the advice guys. Please keep it coming if you have anything else to add.

I did have a 226 a while back, but I ended up selling it to a good friend of mine. Beautiful gun, and no issues. He just fell in love with it more than I was, so I did the nice guy thing. So now its time for a new one, and I just wanted something a little different.

I would suggest a 229 before the 239. I have both and the 239 is fine but not as nice to shoot as the 229. The new 239's availiable up here have the SRT(short reset trigger) installed which you will either like or not. I'm thinking of changing mine over to the DAK system.

Also note that the P232 is not pleasant to shoot. It packs a lot of recoil and accuracy suffers, it's a CCW gun meant for shooting close targets.
I highly suggest any P22X Sig.
The P239 is also a good smaller Sig, I believe it is more fun to shoot it than a P232.

Mosquito repellant

Hello I own a P226 Navy and a Mosquito. Though I have not fired as many rounds as the other chaps. I must say I am very happy with my Navy. It's accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Wish I could say the same about the Mosquito. Excellent firearm ,though I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing it. This particular firearm is very sensative to certain types of ammo. It has a tendency to jam when using Winchester Wildcat or Remington brand .22. Sig sells a .22 conversion kit for the P226 which would cost below the Mosquito's full price. Pardon the pun but perhaps you can kill two birds with one stone .

Cheers
